"Help me write" drafts an email in the compose window from a short natural language prompt, and the draft can be refined with follow-up instructions. It is available to Google AI subscribers and eligible Workspace plans globally, and to personal Gmail accounts in the US.
AI Overviews summarise a long thread when you open it, in eight languages, including for personal accounts. AI Overview in Gmail search answers natural language questions about the inbox and is limited to Google AI plans and eligible Workspace plans. Google said in its Gmail announcement that many of these features are made possible by Gemini 3.
On Business Standard and above, Gemini also runs in Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet and Chat. In Meet it can summarise, translate and take notes. Business Starter includes Gemini in Gmail but not in Docs, Sheets, Drive or Meet.
Proofread offers style and clarity suggestions. It is a web-only feature for Google AI plans and eligible Workspace plans, not personal accounts or Business Starter.
Google's Privacy Hub states that Workspace does not use customer data for training models without the customer's prior permission, and that content is not human reviewed or used for model training outside the customer's domain. It lists SOC 1/2/3, ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 27001 for Gemini, FedRAMP High authorisation, and support for HIPAA compliance. Regulated buyers should still review the Service Specific Terms with their Google account team.
